History: The 38-seat corner restaurant at Jubilee Center (1321 N. 15th at Colcord) opened on January 9th, 2006 with specialty coffees and pastries. On January 31st, breakfast and lunch became the norm. On February 14th, the Cafe held its official Grand Opening. The World Cup Café not only offers coffees from around the world, but also is training men and women in the food service industry. The Fair Trade Market features unique gift items from around the world -- jewelry, handbags, picture frames, home decorations, and much more -- and all help provide liveable wages for people around the world! The afternoon coffee/dessert time features delicious scones and pastries, great coffee, and a relaxing atmosphere. Mission Waco has long sought a way to bring residents from North Waco together with middle-income folks in this revitalizing community. Economic development is a key factor in the growing changes. Across the street from successful “D’s Mediterranean Grill,” the area is beginning to experience new growth and excitement. The Waco Community Development Corporation has built lots of new homes in the neighborhood. Mercy Housing of Colorado announced that a 45 unit housing complex is being built for seniors on the former Providence Hospital site. Family Practice has expanded its pharmacy one block away. And the World Cup Café is right in the middle of the development. So come by and have a cup!
